About This Game
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD NSP ROM is an action-adventure platformer game that a enhanced version of the 2013 Nintendo 3DS, known in the US as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. While maintaining the thrill of ghost hunting, the improved graphics make it a perfect introduction to Luigi’s continuing adventures battling Casper’s mischievous ghosts.
Nevertheless, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD remains a captivating game that blends mystery and humor. Its dual-screen system seamlessly integrates into a single panel, elevating the graphics to a level just below Luigi’s Mansion 3. Tantalus, the developer of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD (2021), not only increased the resolution in this enhanced version but also significantly improved the overall image quality, including the reflective surfaces of Luigi’s armor and the details of his clothing.
Furthermore, the significantly improved lighting in the Switch version adds remarkable depth to haunted scenes, and the lack of stereoscopic 3D rendering in the original game is not a disappointment.
Gameplay
While it’s unlikely the game will receive much praise for its visual design in 2024, the difference from the 2013 original is undeniable. I remember Luigi’s Mansion 2 as a game with a fantastic cast of characters and fascinating, mysterious locations to explore. However, when I replayed the original Luigi’s Mansion on the 3DS 11 years later, I was surprised by the abundance of jagged edges and uneven textures reminiscent of grated cheese. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD has significantly improved, reaching a high level of sophistication that perfectly highlights the cunning of ghostly enemies and meticulously crafted passages.
Conclusion
While I personally prefer the larger, more integrated hotel design of the third game, I appreciate Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD’s segmented levels spread across five different locations. These segmented levels allow me to search for treasures I might have missed after completing the main story in a more focused way. There are also a few surreal moments I hadn’t noticed in the decade since I first played the game. I
t includes a challenging opening battle with a giant spider, the final boss, and descending a long, dark staircase reminiscent of a less dramatic scene from John Wick: Chapter 4. With its significantly improved graphics and more user-friendly dual-stick control system, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is undoubtedly the best version of Luigi’s second haunted adventure.
