Tales of Berseria Remastered NSP ROM is an adventure RPG that brings the dark and immersive world of the legendary Tales series to Nintendo Switch for the first time. The sixteenth main installment in the series serves as a prequel to the events of Tales of Zestiria. Originally released in 2016, this remaster has been completely redesigned for next-generation players and the Nintendo Switch. The game tells the story of Velvet Crow, a young woman consumed by anger and a thirst for revenge, who transforms into a demonic entity called Therion after a painful betrayal. It combines a captivating story with the series’ iconic linear combat system, now optimized for maximum comfort, both at home and on the go.

The story unfolds in the holy kingdom of Midgand, ruled by a theocracy that suppresses human emotions and favors a rigid, logical system. Accompanied by Velvet and her band of extraordinary heroes, players embark on a journey across diverse islands, from sun-drenched harbors to desolate wastelands. Each character is an outsider with unique motivations, creating a distinctive community dynamic, rare in Japanese RPGs.
This is an immersive prequel to Tales of Zestiria, set several centuries earlier in the same universe. The heroine, Velvet Crew, lives a quiet life in a small village with her younger sister, Laphicet, when a cataclysmic event known as the Purple Night destroys their world. Betrayed by her adoptive brother, Artorius, now the leader of the Monastery, a global theocratic organization, Velvet awakens as Therion, a being with a demonic arm capable of devouring the malevolent entities known as “demons.” Her sole motivation: to hunt down Artorius and exact revenge. This dark journey pits her against a system designed to purge the world of all emotion.

In this game, players explore maps and dungeons, solving simple puzzles to progress. The enhanced version offers a much-anticipated feature for an optimal gameplay experience: the ability to completely disable objective markers and enemy encounters on the map.
The 3D combat is fluid and chaotic, offering a great deal of freedom of movement in the arena and the ability to use customizable martial arts techniques through specific button combinations. The Soul Gauge system adds a strategic dimension. Soul management is crucial for executing long combos and utilizing the powerful Fragmented Souls, which grant temporary immunity and unique effects. In the Pro version, the button mapping is intuitive for executing complex attack sequences.
