About This Game
Are you ready to explore region of Sinnoh!
Pokémon Shining Pearl NSP ROM is an adventure & RPG game where players explore the Grand Underground and take on the Pokémon League. It is always difficult to decide how many changes are necessary when remaking a game, and this is especially true for the beloved Pokémon series. Too many changes can be frustrating. The Switch remakes of Pokémon Red and Blue, Let’s Go, Pikachu!, and Let’s Go, Eevee! are proof of this, and while fun, they felt a little simplistic. On the other hand, if you know how to incorporate elements that have shaped the game’s mechanics over the years, you can create some of the best games in the series, like HeartGold and SoulSilver for the DS. Pokémon Diamond and Shining Pearl fall somewhere in between: They offer a great opportunity to complete Sinnoh Pokémon that aren’t in the main Sword and Shield games, but ultimately, they’re adventures you won’t want to revisit once you’ve finished them.
The first, second, and third generations, with the exception of the fourth, all benefit from a remarkable redesign. However, rather than Game Freak’s remake being a true homage to that generation, ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Diamond and Shining Pearl, has opted for a less polished art style, ignoring many elements of Pokémon Platinum, the best game of the generation. Pokémon Diamond and Shining Pearl feature a 3D “chibi” art style for the open world, giving all the characters a bland, Funko Pop!-like appearance—a major flaw. The battles have never been more beautiful—the arenas and environments for Pokémon battles are gorgeous—but the open world feels sparse in comparison.
The Good Old Days in Pokémon Shining Pearl NSP ROM
A real step back for the series: Pokémon will no longer appear in the open world. They now only appear randomly in tall grass as you explore the Sinnoh region. We were really hoping to get rid of this old system, but sadly, it didn’t happen. However, Pokémon appear in the new Great Underworld. This world is a reimagined version of the original gameplay system, where players can explore, collect pieces, and meet other players. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl have been completely redesigned with new environments, complete with wild Pokémon. This not only fixes a major issue with Generation IV (the lack of Fire-type Pokémon), but also allows for the inclusion of some Pokémon from Platinum that were missing from the main game.

The game runs smoothly in both handheld and TV modes and looks stunning on the Nintendo Switch’s new OLED screen. While the graphics aren’t exceptional, all of the Pokémon models are rendered realistically, even if their static movements appear somewhat flimsy. Attacks are fluid, and many Pokémon have unique special moves. Thankfully, the frame rate issues that plagued Sword and Shield and later DS games have been eliminated, providing a smoother battle experience. The top-down perspective also reduces the graphical blurring issues seen in modern games, where the player’s field of view is typically limited to a few meters in each direction.
