About This Game
Formula Legends NSP ROM is an arcade racing game that lets you relive the most iconic eras of Formula 1. From the single-seaters of the 1960s to today’s cutting-edge technology, experience the evolution of the sport in a visually stunning world.
The game is not officially licensed by the FIA. Therefore, it does not include official drivers, constructors or circuits. However, it offers a roster of drivers inspired by their real-life counterparts. So, you can bring Danny Ricchiordi and Lewis Hamilton to the world of racing, not Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton. Have fun with the Battery Volta and Charlie Lacreme, or tease Lance Armstrong — or his father — with my personal favorite, Hans Troll.
Formula Legends offers a unique perspective on the history of Formula 1. The main story mode begins in the 1960s and features different races from each era, different types of cars, constantly evolving technology, and changes to each circuit over the years. While official circuit names are not allowed, many of the tracks and their variations over the decades are faithful recreations of their real-world counterparts. You’ll recognize the twisting corners of Spa-Francorchamps and the legendary Monza circuit.
Compete In Period Championships And Become A Legend By Mastering The Handling Of Iconic Cars
However, if you think you know the Melbourne Park circuit like the back of your hand, prepare to be surprised: it’s clearly inspired by another era. In some cases, the circuits are reversed, possibly to avoid copyright issues, offering a condensed version of motorsport. Unlocking content isn’t as straightforward as it is in Mario Kart.
You’ll need to complete objectives and win championships to unlock the best drivers, new tracks, and even new championships. This means you’ll have to finish races on all difficulty levels. While it’s not as difficult as it sounds, there are some notable balance issues. The most notable is the vehicle maintenance system, which is always active during career mode races. In short, tires run out.
Embark On An Adventure On 14 Ever-evolving Tracks Inspired By Legendary Circuits
The fuel runs out, and the car wears out much faster than an old Fiat, to the point where you need at least two pit stops per race. The last stop is unnecessary and frustrating, as stopping a lap or two before the end is enough. The rapid wear on the car is illogical. It looks like it’s made of the same material that the inhabitants of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild use to make their swords. Fortunately, this doesn’t negatively affect the gameplay, as the real fun of Formula Legends is in the race management. Tires and fuel consumption are important.
The changing weather conditions constantly affect your tire choices. Frequent collisions reduce the performance of your car and can lead to unscheduled pit stops. So, while overtaking is still possible, anticipating the race and making the right pit stops at the right time is more than enough to make up for it. The game doesn’t just evoke retro mechanics. Its structure is reminiscent of PlayStation 2 games, without seasonal subscriptions or microtransactions. It’s a shame that it’s single-player, but that’s understandable given 3DCloud’s relatively small size.
