Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a racing game where you will experience adventures on land, sea, air, and even in space! Instantly curve to new dimensions using Travel Rings and reach places where a surprise awaits you around every corner.
The game features a unique mechanic: Travel Rings. These rings allow you to teleport from one Cross World to another during the race, changing the dynamics of the track and the race in real time. This mechanic alone provides an element of unpredictability that sets the game apart from traditional kart racing games. With 24 tracks and 15 Cross Worlds to explore, it offers incredible variety. But the real fun is in how these transitions affect your strategy. Suddenly you will find yourself racing upside down on floating platforms, underwater, or even in zero gravity.
Graphically and technically, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a masterpiece on the Switch. Transitions between CrossWorlds are incredibly fluid, with no lag or long loading times, and the tracks are often cleverly designed, incorporating environmental effects like water, wind, and changes in gravity. Frame rates remain stable even in the most chaotic races, with only minor drops in crowded areas. The soundtrack and sound effects capture Sonic’s classic, thrilling spirit, complementing the pace without overwhelming it. The handheld console experience is bright and exciting, but occasional perspective issues or sudden graphical loadouts remind us of the device’s technical limitations.
