About This Game
Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood NSP ROM is an action-adventure RPG. In this new installment in the Mario & Luigi series, the two brothers return for a perilous journey across the vast world of Concordia, starting from their home on Ship Island, which is both a ship and an island. Control the mustachioed duo and explore islands with diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to bustling cities.
The original Nintendo Switch hasn’t simply disappeared while we wait for news on the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo demonstrated this during its impressive Nintendo Direct presentation in June, which kicked off with a welcome surprise: a new Mario & Luigi RPG. Following Paper Jam for 3DS in 2015, Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood is the first game in the popular turn-based RPG series about the two brothers in over a decade. More importantly, it’s the first game since the infamous closure of AlphaDream studio in 2019.
However, according to Nintendo, Brotherhood is still in development by some of the original developers of the previous games. Regardless, I had the opportunity to play for about 90 minutes during the presentation, and it looks like it will be another excellent addition to the original Nintendo Switch console. The game boasts some of the best graphics ever seen on a console, along with incredibly engaging gameplay.
A long-awaited return:
All of this is fantastic, but what really caught my attention in the demo was the battle system. The gameplay is similar to early Mario RPGs, as I mentioned. Pressing the right buttons to dodge and attack is crucial. Depending on the enemy, the brothers’ jumps and hammer blows can be very effective. Depending on which brother initiates the attack, each has a unique button sequence to inflict maximum damage.
Each battle is satisfying and visually stunning, thanks to a fantastic art style reminiscent of the realistic 3D cartoons seen on the covers and instruction manuals of the original Mario & Luigi games. Watching Mario and Luigi unleash their incredible hammer blows on enemies is a joy, like watching Saturday morning cartoons.
The final days shine in the new game Mario & Luigi
Brotherhood seems to reward experience, a key element in any good RPG. The game offers enough customization options to enhance the combat experience, especially thanks to a simple progression system that allows you to choose between several permanent power-ups (I’m told not all are available) at certain levels.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much else to say after the demo, but that’s okay. It’s one of the many excellent RPGs I’ve played this year. Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 7th. Great review! I can’t wait to play this game because I hate waiting for releases. By comparison, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom flopped and will retail for sixty dollars. The same can be said for the Smurfs.
